A pair of locomotives derailed near the Courtenay Bay Causeway that morning, officials said, and the cause is under investigation.

A statement from CN said a “small amount of engine oil” leaked from one of the locomotives, but had no impact on public safety.
“The leak occurred on railway property and is being repaired.”
The Transportation Safety Board said it was gathering information and assessing the incident.
The agency said it did not send investigators to the scene.
