Germany, Ivory Coast prepare for World Cup showdown in Toronto

Thousands of soccer fans from Germany and Ivory Coast were in Toronto as FIFA World Cup matches between the two countries kicked off in the city this afternoon.

German supporters are expected to line Toronto’s waterfront toward the tentatively named BMO Field, starting at 12:30 a.m. near Queens Quay West and Robertson Crescent.

Road closures are expected along the route and throughout the day, with traffic delays expected in the area.

Lake Shore Boulevard West will be completely closed in both directions between Bathurst Street and British Columbia Road. Closures usually take effect approximately five hours before kickoff and remain in effect until approximately three hours after the final whistle.
