Calgary police have announced charges against a 37-year-old woman from High River in connection with an investigation into a spike in thefts from lockers at recreation facilities in the city.
In their announcement, police said there were ongoing investigations into more than 60 locker thefts at various locations since November 2025.
In March 2026, the police received reports of several thefts. In each case, the victims reported that their wallets, bank cards and identity documents were stolen.
Investigators later identified suspects in two thefts that occurred at Southland Leisure Center on January 30 and February 15, 2026.
On Wednesday, April 15, Calgary police and RCMP executed a search warrant at a residence in High River where they discovered a number of stolen documents.
As a result, a woman was charged with four counts of possession of a stolen credit card and four counts of theft under $5,000.
Calgary police say their investigation into two thefts at the Southland Leisure Center helped them identify suspects in connection with some of the thefts.

Investigations into dozens of thefts are ongoing.
“Reporting this incident is very important,” said Calgary police acting Inspector. Paul Ralstin. “This allows us to investigate each incident, identify trends and, in some cases, link suspects to multiple incidents.”
Such thefts, Ralstin said, can have “a real impact on victims and their sense of safety.”
Police also remind gym users to ensure their lockers are fully locked and secured, avoid bringing valuables into the gym if possible, and report suspicious behavior and theft to gym staff and police.
