City of Surrey announces 10,000-seat arena and move to Vancouver Giants – BC

The city of Surrey will be getting a new arena, which will be the new home of the Vancouver Giants.

In a release, the city and the Surrey City Development Corporation said the Downtown Arena and Cultural Events Center will be equipped with 10,000 seats for the city’s sporting, concert and cultural events.

“When we say big things are happening in Surrey, we mean it, and a new arena of this size is huge,” Mayor Brenda Locke said in the release.

“Bringing this arena to Surrey means creating jobs, investment, conference capacity and major sports, arts and entertainment like never before. We are already an economic powerhouse in the region, and this is another step in Surrey’s rise as a world-class city.”
