RCMP officers from Hanna, Alta., responded to an unusual call from a local business owner last week.
On Wednesday, a business owner in Hanna, located about 220 kilometers east of Calgary, called to report a trespasser who was refusing to leave because his business was closed for the night.
Photos taken from CCTV footage show the confused beaver shortly after he entered the shop.

The hairy devil was described as disoriented, wearing all brown clothing, about 60 centimeters (two feet) tall and weighing about 18 kilograms (40 pounds).
When officers arrived at the Freson Brothers food market, they found a wayward otter inside the store.

Responding officers, who described the encounter in a post on social media, said they “used de-escalation techniques” regarding the matter and after much persuasion, the otter was removed from the business premises without needing to be detained.
RCMP say responding officers were eventually able to convince the beaver to leave the store without detaining him.

Officers said they were unable to obtain the identity of the suspect or a motive, but have released the photos online in case the animal appears in the community again. They believe the suspect may have been trying to loot some wood located near the entrance to the business.
The subject was not considered armed or dangerous, but responding officers noted that “the tail was quite large.”
