Ingram celebrated the anniversary with a 27-save shutout

EDMONTON – Connor Ingram celebrated his 29th birthday on Tuesday by making 27 saves for his second shutout of the season as the Edmonton Oilers extended their winning streak to four games by beating the Seattle Kraken 3-0.

Max Jones, Kasperi Kapanen and Connor McDavid scored for the Oilers (38-28-9) who have won six of their last eight games and are the second-last team in the NHL to have a four-game winning streak, with only Philadelphia unable to last that long this season.

Edmonton is two points behind Pacific Division-leading Anaheim and three points ahead of third-place Vegas. The Oilers now have a 28-5-5 record when scoring their first goal of the season.

TAKEAWAY

Kraken: Bobby McMann, who leads Seattle in goals and points since arriving at the trade deadline with Toronto — seven goals, four assists in eight games — had his scoring streak stalled at three games. He has a chance to match the second-longest scoring streak in franchise history.

Oilers: McDavid extended his scoring streak to five games. He leads the NHL in goals since Dec. 1 with 32. The Oilers captain is now one point behind Dale Hawerchuk for third-most points by a player before the age of 30. Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux are first and second on that lofty list.

IMPORTANT MOMENT

Edmonton started the scoring 5:28 into the opening period when Jake Walman’s point shot hit Jones and then slipped off Grubauer’s glove and went in for his third goal of the season. Jones was playing in his 300th career NHL game.

KEY STATUS

Edmonton has always been a pest to Seattle, as no team has recorded more wins over the Kraken than the Oilers. Edmonton entered the contest with a 14-4-0 all-time record against Seattle including going 7-1-0 at home and outscoring them 76-50.
